Diploma Dolls

(1961)
(The tenth book in the Orrie Hitt Library series)
A novel by

Jimmy Wade ran a diploma mill. For two hundred bucks he’d sign you up for a correspondence course that was no good and give you a diploma that wasn’t worth the ink it was printed with. It was a dirty, rotten business. It took a man’s dreams and aspirations and screwed them up and threw them away … and that was just fine with Jimmy.
But Jimmy wanted more sales, more money. And the way to get it was by hiring hookers. They could sell to gullible, love-starved men and they’d be only too happy to sign up if they thought there might be a little bonus fun involved.
Jimmy’s girl, Gloria, saw where the business was going and wanted out. So did Jimmy’s hired men, Sam and Ross. Lily Cramer, the hired girl reluctantly sold her body to get her commission, but she hated it too.
But they all left it too late to change their lousy ways, and when the police came into the picture, flashing their shields, all that remained was a future behind bars.
Unless Jimmy and his crew got real lucky …
